Huckleberry Finn Essay

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, composed by Mark Twain, happens during the prior to the war period, and spins around a little fellow, named Huck. The prior to the war period was the years directly before the Civil War, so Huck was living in a dull and cloudy time in American History. Huck begins by living with The Widow Douglas and her sister, Miss Watson, who is attempting to â€Å"civilize† him or make him to be what the ideal youngster ought to resemble and make him act how an ideal kid should act. Huck doesn't need that. He simply needs to live how he needs, much the same as most youth need. In the novel, Huckleberry Finn gets to know a runaway slave, Jim, and his undertakings start. As indicated by Dennis Puopard, Mark Twain uncovered a large number of the dull issues of prior to the war United States. Some state Mark Twain composed this long winded novel as a boys’ experience story and that Huck is a character that kids should turn upward to. (422) Modern perusers don't consider Huckleberry To be as a children’s book in light of the fact that the book is bigot, there a topics of lying, and characters protest and reprimand authority. Since, present day perusers consider the to be as inappropriate for kids The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is on the prohibited books list on many school in the United States. In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn there are racial slurs, falsehoods, and obscenity. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn isn't a children’s book in today’s society due to the unmistakable topic of race. The subject of race and bigotry is solid in today’s society. On the off chance that an advanced American resident uses racial slurs against another race in a terrible manner that resident would be sentenced with a criminal offense. A racial slur, for example, the word â€Å"nigger† isn't bearable today’s society. The word â€Å"nigger† was utilized to disparage and dehumanize African American slaves, for example, Jim, in before the war United States. All through the book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, writer Mark Twain incorporates racial slurs, for example, the word, â€Å"nigger† toward African American characters, for example, Jim and different slaves. â€Å"‘Good thoughtful! anyone hurt? ‘ ‘No’m. Murdered a nigger. ‘ ‘Well, it’s fortunate; on the grounds that occasionally individuals do get injured. ‘†( Twain 109). This statement shows how the white society sees Jim distinctive then themselves. They see Jim as property instead of a human with an authentic heart. This talked between two white characters just shows how frightful and barbarously somebody can sound just by taking. Barbra L. Jackson educator at Fordham University in New York City says, â€Å"It is difficult to show The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in an assorted class as a result of its racial perspectives. † (63). On the off chance that a school educator makes some hard memories showing the book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, to her group, how might it be simple for secondary school understudies who are studding the novel, or even little youngsters whom get the book and begin understanding it? Likewise, Barbra L. Jackson says, â€Å"I consistently observe a need support, when considering the book, †¦ the understudies would prefer not to peruse out loud,† (64). The understudies don't feel right saying â€Å"nigger† for all to hear on the grounds that they would prefer not to annoy any of their cohorts. The understudies realize that the word, â€Å"nigger† is an untouchable in current society. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn ought not be instructed or perused to youngsters as a result of the racial slurs. The kind of racial language that Mark Twain utilizes in the book is hostile and rough. The introduction of the racial slurs to little youngsters would be unsafe. The little youngsters will think it is alright to state the new words they find from perusing The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which would push them into difficulty later on.

bursting the MIT Bubble

bursting the MIT Bubble college is supposed to be a stepping-stone to adulthood, where undergrads can attempt to be functional human beings an environment conducive to trial and error. we can turn in our psets barefoot and then binge Netflix for eight hours and its completely acceptable because, hey, at least we actually did the pset!!!! and when were living in this strange and beautiful enclave where its okay to fail at being real adults, a lot of us tend to let ourselves be absorbed in our own lives. keeping up with whats going on in the world becomes something extraneous and not essential. in Sloan Business Clubs Board Education Program, which I talk more about here, one of my weekly assignments is to prepare news briefs to present to my peers, the rationale for this being the intensity of the MIT Bubble. when i heard this, i realized how unaware of what’s going on in the world i am. i used to be so caught up with everything, but now i’m just preoccupied with my life hereâ€"which is fair, because i’m still adjusting to this environment, but i don’t feel like a functioning human being when the only news i get is from MIT Confessions this feeling of being trapped in the Bubble is tangible in my failure to take advantage of the city around me. in my two-ish months01 only two months?? feels like i’ve been here for an eternity here, i haven’t left campus all that much.02 frat parties don’t count lol Boston is right there, but i barely leave my floor?? (okay, my floor is amazing but i, a girl from a city 45 minutes away from Boston, feel like more of a tourist here than i did in Taipei and that kind of alarms me) i have, however, notably escaped the bubble on a few occasions:   camping trip!   the freshmen and sophomores of my floor ventured into the woods of Andover, MA for some good wholesome bonding. the experience was exactly what i’d hoped it would beâ€"building a fire, making s’mores, sharing traumaâ€"the essentials, am i right? we also fit all 11 frosh into one four-person tent, which was nothing short of incredible.   walking in the middle of ~n a t u r e~ made me realize how accustomed to MIT campus i’d become in the past few weeks. also, i had shut away my internal to-do list for the weekend, so i felt a strange sense of unease, as if besides stressing out about how much i procrastinate on my work, there was nothing to consume my time. for a brief period where the very tired and hungry frosh were lying in a tent listlessly, i was SO agitated because it’s weird to be bored at MIT, where so much is going on and you’re surrounded by so many people. but being off campus and receiving emails from the free-food mailing list was hilarious.  us while grilling hot dogs: “oh hey guys there’s thai food in Building 34” *cackling* interesting note: on three separate occasions, different people asked if anyone had brought their periodic table.03 in one of our classes, Introduction to Solid-State Chemistry, the professor stresses the importance of having our periodic tables handy at all times, so a lot of students bring them to strange places and send him pictures of it my roommate had brought her periodic table shirt,04 the same professor randomly hurls these shirts across the lecture hall in some classes. love it so we took a picture by the camp fire and sent it to our professor, who put the picture in the next lecture powerpoint.   incredible. the pic that made it into the slideshow! wow look at us grunge-y emo frosh posing it up Peabody Essex Museum! my HASS class, “Introduction to East Asian Cultures: From Zen to K-Pop,” has two required museum trips. and since us college students are intensely busy/there lowkey are no weekends at MIT, each student has to go on their own time.05 according to my professor, field trips haven’t panned out in the past decade i went to the museum with a classmate and had such a good time! to get there, we had to take the T and then the Commuter Rail, which was a lot oftransportationfor someone who’s used to walking back and forth across campus all day. It was a strange experience, and pretty much every step of the way i’d turn to him and say “oh my god WE’RE NOT AT MIT!!!”   i’m really grateful to my class for, essentially, forcing me to leave The Bubble. exploring a museum in the middle of the school day was a wild and unique experience â€" and so was renting an electric scooter and y e e t i n g06 (at 13 mph lmao) across Salem. apple picking! undergrads from every dorm went to Stow, MA for a very frickin wholesome apple picking trip that Abby talks about here. we got a whole bag of apples (that i fully intend to consume for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the next week), a caramel apple, a cider donut, actual cider, and access to a hedge maze and hayride.   i mostly hung out with people from my dorm, but bumping into students i’ve seen around campus for a while as i walked around the orchard was super cute! new england fall is hella pretty alright. MIT might consume your entire existence in ways both good and bad, and leaving campus definitely feels like a breath of fresh airâ€" but coming home to it is always comforting :)) only two months?? feels like i’ve been here for an eternity back to text ? frat parties don’t count lol back to text ? in one of our classes, Introduction to Solid-State Chemistry, the professor stresses the importance of having our periodic tables handy at all times, so a lot of students bring them to strange places and send him pictures of it back to text ? the same professor randomly hurls these shirts across the lecture hall in some classes. love it back to text ? according to my professor, field trips haven’t panned out in the past decade back to text ? Persuasive Speech Examples

Persuasive Speech Examples Persuasive Speech A persuasive speech is given for the purpose of persuading the audience to feel a certain way, to take a certain action, or to support a specific view or cause. Notice that the purpose of a persuasive speech is similar to the purpose for writing an argumentative or persuasive essay. The organizational structure and type of information in a persuasive speech would be similar to that in an persuasive essay. To write a persuasive speech, you choose a topic about which people disagree or can have differing opinions. Your persuasive argument will be made stronger if you can demonstrate that you are passionate about the topic and have a strong opinion one way or the other. Then, you outline and draft your persuasive speech by taking a position on the topic and outlining your support for your position. It is often helpful to also discuss why the "other side" is incorrect in their beliefs about the topic. Make sure you catch your audience's attention and that you summarize key points and "take-aways" as you go. Examples of Persuasive Speech: 1. A teenager attempting to convince her parents that she needs to be able to stay out until 11pm instead of 10pm. 2. A student council president trying to convince school administrators to allow the students to have a dance after the final football game of the season. 3. A lawyer giving a closing argument in court, arguing about whether the defendant is innocent or guilty of the crime. Examples of Persuasive Speeches in Literature or Popular Culture: Excerpt from Mark Antony's speech in Julius Caesar: Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears; I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him. The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones; So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus Hath told you Caesar was ambitious: If it were so, it was a grievous fault, And grievously hath Caesar answer'd it. Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest– For Brutus is an honourable man; So are they all, all honourable men– Martin Luther King, Jr.'s I Have a Dream speech is one of the most famous persuasive speeches of all time. Excerpt: Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children. Winston Churchill also gave a famous persuasive speech during World War II as Britain faced invasion from Nazi Germany: Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.

Essay on Gates of Fire - 677 Words

Steven Pressfields The Gates of Fire is set in the fifth century B.C. in Greece. The story revolves around the famous battle of Thermopylae where three hundred Spartans held off hundreds of thousands of Persians, saving Greece. Pressfield creates a fictional story around the battle where one man, a squire named Xeones, survives to tell the Spartan story of the battle and the events preceding it. Xeones, who is the protagonist, tells his life story to the royal Persian historian while in captivity. This life history of Xeones constitutes the body of the book. Xeones tale starts when he was a young boy living in Astakiots, a small Greek polis. They cannot decide so they end up parting ways, Xeones to Sparta, Diomache to Athens. In their entire lives they will only meet once more. When Xeones arrives in Sparta (Lakedaemon) he cannot become a soldier because he is not Lakedaemonian. Instead he becomes a squire, a station that is basically a form of slavery. This in itself doesnt present a conflict to Xeoes, he is willing to do anything to serve with the Spartans. For the rest of The Gates of Fire the conflicts are not Xeoness, but his masters. Xeoness first master Alexandros is a young Spartan around his age who is enrolled in the Spartan military school. Alexandross father is Polemarch and he is a pure bred Lakedaemonian. Alexandros isnt the military type though, he is much better at singing. However, since he is a pure bred Lakedaemonian he has no choice but to serve in the military from the age of seven till he is sixty. He will become a full soldier at twenty when he completes military training. Xeones job as his squire is to be his sparring partner and clean his gear, and basically be his slave. Despite the fact that he is much better soldier than Alexandros, Xeones doesnt resent being his slave, indeed he grows to love him (as a brother.) Essay on Prostitution in Pompeii - 2761 Words

Prostitution, as stated by Flemming, is known as a form of sexual activity, a kind of sexual style or category, and a form of economic activity, a way of making a living through the provisions of certain services, by behaving in accordance with, or falling into such a category (39). This definition, though, is controversial. While conducting research for this project, we found that most topics regarding prostitution and its affiliates were controversial. Each author gave a differing interpretation for the same data. Due to this, our project centered on the female prostitutes, even though there is evidence of male prostitutes. It was the mans job to protect the familys honor and; therefore, the sexual integrity of the women within the family (McGinn, 10-11). Women were expected to remain sexually faithful to their husbands, while men were free to sleep with prostitutes and slaves as they wished. Prostitutes and Pimps Prostitutes were seen as both useful and unsavory at the same time (Flemming, 44). Mens nature required a setting aside of a class of degraded women to service them (McGinn, 214). The Augustan Laws regarding prostitution are a good illustration of the sheer hypocrisy men displayed with regard to the women in their society. For example, the Tax legitimized prostitution as a legal entity, while the Registration stigmatized women, making them ineligible for respectable work and isolating them to the lower class of society (McGinn, 212 287). The authoritarian elite of the Roman Empire regarded prostitution as an institution through which women were made and marketed as sexual objects of a certain, approved type for the general populace (Flemming, 56). In general, prostitution was seen like everything else, to be enjoyed in moderation (Flemming, 44). Pimps and procuresses were seen as even more disagreeable because of the widespread belief that they exploited the weak, and were merchants of dishonor (McGinn, 136). According to Fanon, there is something unambiguous about the situations of colonialism and racism that affect the black man, the nightmares that repeat colonial trauma and violence. Metacognition Essay Example free essay sample

Metacognition Essay I feel I have come a long way my tenth grade year. My writing has gotten so much better and I can write essays of much better quality now. Things have gotten better like punctuation, thesis, and analysis. To begin with, my punctuation has gotten a lot better. I made a lot of errors during the beginning of the year and I am starting to make a lot less. Also, my thesis statements have gotten tremendously better. At the beginning of the year they were really boring. As the year began to progress, the statements got more interesting and creative. My analysis throughout essays have gotten better. I am much better now at determining things like theme, tone, and finding many literary devices. I can also set up my essays better and create smoother transitions. When I find the theme now, I can point it out much easier after learning about it this year and having a better understanding of what it is. We will write a custom essay sample on Metacognition Essay Example or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page When it comes to tone, I understand it so much better now. When we began learning about it I didn’t understand but after we received a chart about different types of tones it helped me so much. When I started English this year, I knew some of the basic literary devices like simile, metaphor, and personification; but with the knowledge I have gained this year, I can use and find things like hyperbole, onomonopea, assonance, and so on. Now as I write essays, there are more things I think about while doing so. When I am writing my essay, I now think about how well the information backs up the claim. At the beginning of the year I wasn’t very good at including all of the descriptive information that was required. Once I learned after a few essays I realized that I need to find more supporting details, and have gotten better at doing so. While I have gotten better at these other things, I feel there is still a key factor that I need to work on. I need to work on the flow of quotes and their citations. Although I have improved and have a better understanding of it, there is still a lot of work to be done. Not all of my quotes flow smoothly and sometimes I mess up the citation after the quote. Another one of my major flaws is having the incorrect point of view. I need to make sure I go over an essay a couple times because I normally add incorrect point of view the first time. During the second semester, I had a favorite and least favorite project. My favorite was the song presentation. It was something I really enjoyed because I love music and being able to do a project on something I love is so much fun. I enjoyed it because I got to find literary devices, establish tone and theme, and find parts in the song to back up my claims. I really enjoy finding literary devices, whether it’s in a song or poetry, and it is one of my favorite things to do in English. I also liked finding the tone and theme. The theme is always fun to find because there are normally so many possibilities and you get to try to find one that fits the best. The project that I liked the least was the persuasive outline. I didn’t have a problem with it as I was doing the project, and I actually found it rather interesting, but I had to present it in front of the class. Presenting things in front of the class is my least favorite thing to do. I enjoy most of the projects up until the point where I step in front of the class. I think I have earned and A or a B this semester. I know most of the material and I that feel I can use it appropriately. After all of the essays and projects this year I feel that I have gained so much knowledge in English and I think I am more than ready for English 11.

Explain why their agreement should be sought 5. Your organisation has decided that employers will no longer give employees rostered days off to compensate them for working overtime. Instead, employees will now be paid for any overtime they complete. What would you say to obtain agreement and endorsement for these changes? You should provide a transcript of a three minute speech that you would give to employees outlining the objectives of this change. You need to show that you have considered objections to or barriers to employee endorsement of this change. Answers: 1. The organization you work for sells PCs and laptops. They have decided that they are going to start selling computer tablets (eg iPads). They are expecting that this will significantly increase sales and will mean that more sales staff are going to be needed. How might the organization modify its workforce in this situation? Provide a detailed response In order to cater the increasing needs of the organization the simplest way is to develop sales teams for each product with few new recruits under the supervision of old seasoned sales persons of the company. The old people know the strategies, vision, mission and ethics of the company and the new workforce would provide renewed energy and power of number to capture the new market as expected by the company. It is important to move forward with strategic staffing policies so that the company is neither burdened by the expenses of extra staff nor hampered by lack of it. The option of contractual salesmen could be used to cater the current needs of the company (Bechet, 2000). 2. The organization you work for makes and sells jewelry. In the past few years, the organization has found that they are not making money on their line of watches so they have decided, as a part of their organization strategy, to stop selling watches. This means that the workforce force will need to be modified because watchmakers will no longer be needed. How might the organization modify its workforce? For the success and profitable operations of an organization it is important that every employee is put to good use. The companys Profit Per Employees is considered to be new metric for evaluating its performance (Bryan, 2007). However, terminating employment contract of employees as corporate decision might attract legal actions against the company. Therefore, the watchmakers must be tries to accommodate in field in which they might prove capable to work in. Some of them might prove worthy in jewelry field, or sales workforce. However, for the staff which is not able to fit in any other field might be asked to find another suitable job and some reasonable time must be given to him to do so. 3. Explain how might you communicate workforce objectives and rationale to relevant stakeholders/ employees? To increase the efficiency of the staff within the company budget it is important to have good workforce planning. Also, the employees as well as stakeholders must be very clear about the aims and objectives that the company have behind the decided workforce strategies. The main objectives of workforce are to define hob roles and duties, identify the level of staffing, increase human recourse efficiency and improve resources allocation on the company (Kelchner, 2016). For staff this could be communicated through regular training sessions, role manuals and counselling as and when needed. For the stakeholders, presentations at the board or annual meetings or regular email communications regarding this topic could be helpful. 4. Identify two groups other than employees whose agreement and endorsement you would seek when setting objectives and targets and creating workforce plans. Explain why their agreement should be sought It is important that the stakeholders and the management of the company agrees as well as endorse the objectives and targets and creation of workforce plans before its implementation. Internal stakeholders like the department heads and senior management must understand the rationale behind the set plan in synchronization with the future vision and mission of the company. These are the people who would command the regular operations from the workforce, thus it is important that they agree with it since inception. External stakeholders like the unions of the staff or resources or departments of government concerned with the business, etc. must be taken into confidence before plans implementation to ensure that no violations are done which might raise objections in later stage (Aspire Learning Resources, 2015). 5. Your organization has decided that employers will no longer give employees rostered days off to compensate them for working overtime. Instead, employees will now be paid for any overtime they complete. What would you say to obtain agreement and endorsement for these changes? You should provide a transcript of a three-minute speech that you would give to employees outlining the objectives of this change. You need to show that you have considered objections to or barriers to employee endorsement of this change I order to meet the additional financial needs of the employees and reward the extra work done, company has come up with the plan to pay for any overtime done by them. There was provision of compensatory offs in lieu of overtime which also allured some employees to work for more than 40 hours in a week (Insperity, 2013). Also it was found that the staff were using the compensatory off facility to take off in any day which might hamper the working of rest of his team or department for that day. Keeping this in mind and not overruling the extra effort put in by the staff the plan of payment is made. For some of the staff taking a compensatory off was better choice maybe because they do not need additional income as much as others might. Thus for some this comes as a golden chance to make more money by putting in extra hours. Therefore, it would be in favor of the employees at large to agree with this new change and endorse for its implementation, so that some of us in need can make ext ra money, while we already get our weekly and other holidays. Essay Topics for Middle School Students - What to Do

Essay Topics for Middle School Students - What to DoWhen choosing essay topics for middle school students, one of the most important things to do is to not select topics that are too easy or too difficult. Too many children don't understand that choosing topics that are too easy will hinder their ability to learn the fundamentals of writing an essay and will not let them grow as a writer. You have to remember that for the most part there are two kinds of writers- those who enjoy writing and those who don't and this is true in all writing subjects, whether you are writing for school, work, or whatever. Unfortunately some children, when presented with too much difficult subject matter, will find it difficult to finish the project on time and even less likely to be able to write well and even read well. This is why, if you choose essay topics that are easy, you will likely be helping your child and others with the same difficulties to complete their essay. This will give them a sense of s atisfaction, while doing so, you will have helped them to pick up on proper ways to approach their own essays. Sometimes you might not know exactly how to help them with the topic choices that they present, but one thing you can certainly count on is that you'll know that you have done your best to help them out.As a matter of fact, when you decide to choose essay topics that are too easy, you are usually helping your children to miss out on opportunities to expand their minds. This means that you are letting your children use an easier topic than they would have used on their own if they had chosen a more difficult one. In order to be effective, you must not just choose easy essays topics, but you must also choose essay topics that allow the child to grow and learn from them.In addition to helping your children out, you will be helping yourself in a way by completing the more difficult topics first. It is very difficult to know the strategies that your students will use in choosing topics inessays, but in a lot of cases you can simply ask your students what types of topics they prefer and then you can easily devise essay topics around that. When you want to choose essay topics for middle school students, you have to choose topics that allow your students to create their own topic ideas and structure them into something meaningful. So, if you want to help your students, you must ensure that they get to use their skills in creating a meaningful topic to write about and giving them the chance to use the skills that they have in coming up with the essay topic.Make sure that you are doing everything that you can to help your middle school students and ensure that your children grow as writers need to start at a young age. If you give them a chance to grow, you will also be helping yourself by helping them out and giving them the ability to learn how to write at a young age.

The content of marketing as well as marketing programs; analogue and digital, are internally designed to promote the brand and product features to the consumers. Marketing is in fact one of the core corporate functions that keeps the brand at par. The brand has also embraced digital marketing as one of the method it uses to remain competitive in the market that is dominated by other super- brands in the luxury fashion industry (Group Overview, n. D. ). Brands Product attributes and Target Market The brand being inclined to British lifestyle has a range of products that argues men, women and children of different social status in the society. It is best known Of shawls, scarves, and ties that are classified as soft accessories. The products are also tailored to meet individual needs (Tungsten, 2009). For example the brand also classifies products as seasonal and continuity. Continuity includes the iconic trench coats that are durable whereas the former refers to the short lived products such as responsive fashion trend that covers a limited season. The multilevel brand strategy of the company is organized at six major brand levels. First off, the high fashion range that serves the fashion shows and editorial coverage, which is produced in small quantities to satisfy the customers exclusivity, demand. This range targets the affluent customers and is distributed through Barberry flagship stores and other prestigious stores in America and London such as Barneys and Harrows. The second range is the London line that is a ready to wear range that is presented in two collections based on the four seasons. Womens wear usually has more lines compared to menswear. Menswear has also been tailored to meet sportswear accessories such as towels, shoe and bags as well as swimwear (Group Overview, n. D. ). The other two diffusion brands are Barberry blue and black that is for the Japan fashion market. They are also targeted for younger male and female professionals. The multi-brand model of the company has provided maximum market exposure and extensive consumer demand. The second benefit Of the model is that, it has provided elasticity and market awareness evidenced by the brands that target specific countries. Additionally, the approach of having broad category of products range and differential pricing options have provided a marketing move for the company since the customers have accessed it on that account as well as enable the trading up and down of the brand levels (Group Overview, n. D. ).. The brand is known for its trench coats that target the young audience. The product has been marketed through websites such as retrenchment. D. ). The consistency of visual merchandising of the brand as well as its store presentation of the brand is maintained through a shop-in shop strategy that is implemented in department stores. The company maintains relationship with its wholesale customers by making accessible brand offer and other brands. Additionally, they engage in collaborative marketing action with the important clients (Hag, 2004). Through this the wholesale consumers are able to have access to allowances following the advertisement of Barberry brand products. In a nutshell, the licensee distribution engages two license partners that are jointly tinged with the duty Of wholesale distribution. The licensed partner firms are responsible for visual merchandising and sales agents. The distribution channel has been advantageous of the brand. It provides the presentation of the brands products in diverse and important markets. The model also allows for the return on investment since none of the profit is lost in paying franchise partners and other partners. Marketing methods The gabardine which was water resistant and meant for the military outfits made the brand famous not only in England but also all over the world. Having been hit by economic downfall, the marketing department had to strengthen its strategies so as to boost its sales. To keep at the level of other brands it had to focus on digital media as one of its core strategies (Grieve, Didactic, Tibias, 2013). The company benchmark other well established rands such as Apple, Nikkei and Google, to establish a unique and distinct model for the brand. Using these iconic brands it was able to use the social media with the aim of developing a campaign that was innovative and inclusive of the young consumers. The brand was outstanding, fashion forward and autonomous. This was and is still recorded in its trench coats that are iconic and are fond for the soldiers, celebrities, and working class (Grieve, Didactic, Tibias, 2013). The unique status of the luxury brand was built upon the unique product; the trench coats. Additionally, most street photography has recognized the brand from the same. In 2009 most people were aware of the brand and about a million making it the largest luxury brand in the fashion industry at that time (Digital marketing case study Social media case study: Barberry encourages customer participation with Art of Trench Digital Training Academy, n. D. ). The idea of the social media gave a revelation of the Art of the Trench campaign. The brand established its website where it was very easy for the customers to share their photos wearing products from the luxury brand. This was a form of reaching more customers who would visit the website and admire those photographs. Coupled with the partnership with Scott Chasm; a fashion flogger, the brand was able to amass a mammoth of consumers within a short period of time. The photos could be liked and shared by both customers as well as the potent Customers. The digital campaign placed the brand over others in the luxury sector. The success of the campaign boosted the e-commerce sales by almost fifty percent making the company to allocate more of its resources in digital marketing (Hill, 2014). Apart from social media, the brand also uses advertising, fashion stores, and editorial placement as its core marketing Hansel (Hines Bruce, 2001). They have an advertisement strategy that is launched twice every year. The advertisement campaigns are more focused in the leading fashion and lifestyle publications such as fashion magazines. The brand has cut its expenditure for media advertisement (Hines Bruce, 2001 The ads focus mainly on the brands history and heritage. The emphasis IS well placed on the company logo, trademarks. The adverts not only feature individual products but also aim at presenting the whole brand image demonstrated through diverse brand product range (Hill, 2014). The fast ion wows are also marketing channels for fashion. As a marketing move, Barberry appreciates the fashion shows as marketing plans that serve to inspire the luxury grade of the brand (Us, Coppery, Videophones Network, 2008). The shows are held in different periods depending on the brand. For example, the fashion shows are held twice a year in Milan. The city is well known for its luxury fashion heritage serves to market the brand internationally. Apart from establishing the fashions credibility, the shows also ensure international press representation (Chevalier Mozzarella, 2012). In London there is a fashion week every season in all designated London showrooms (Cooke, 2014). Editorial coverage aims at reinforcing the luxury brand positioning as well as creating brand awareness (Chevalier Mozzarella, 2012). Barberry has a strong public relations tactic that focuses on trade and fashion press. The strategy is inclusive of the whole world editorial coverage and annotations that are for the support of the brand. This ensures proper placement of the brand as the leading brand in fashion, trade, business and publications (Eases, 2009). Another important marketing overage is the brochures that are unleashed every season to market the collections to the consumers and wholesale as well as retail customers (Eases, 2009). The brand also has a website that further creates its awareness. The website that is up to date provides a brief history of the brand, the current images of the product, and the adverts representing the brand (Leverage the Franchise, n. . ). In the fashion show marketing, the brand has had a unique way of hitting the market. Recently in the London Fashion week, it made it possible for its customers to stream the fashion show live in 2010. This makes it the first brand to go live in AD all over the world. As evidenced by the proper use of technological inventions that have placed the company above the other competitors, other brands in the fashion industry should embrace the same m ethod to stay up in the market (Cooke, 2014). As a move of embracing technology Barberry also launched it mobile site in 201 0 making it possible for the customers to interact with the products from their smart phones, pads and tablets. This has continuously expanded its customer base globally being that most consumers use the same in communication and hopping at the same time (Strata, 2013. The marketing model of the luxury brand has made it recognize the importance of advertising in the creation of the brands image. The brand is widely known both in London and all over the world because of its unique advertising campaigns. The brand has come up with outstanding marketing strategies that have targeted various audiences. This move makes it do well in the luxury sector since they are unique and exclusive for the brand. The target market of the goods is well defined through the products and the fact that they can easily reach the goods at heir convenience makes it easier for the company to make huge profits. Luxury brand management spurs almost over all the actions Of the company form production, distribution, marketing and sales. Barberry as a luxury brand, have taken into consideration all the aspects of fashion marketing embracing the methods of marketing that assure large outreach such as the social media. The social marketing technique not only creates awareness of the brand but also creates a channel through which the company can interact with its customers and be able to get their feedback.
